Thanksgiving 2007

I've bundled together here some highlight pictures from our Thanksgiving gathering with our friends the Boolootians and the Küpers (Janina's family).

Of course there was lots of work to get ready for Thanksgiving. I won't show any of the cleaning pictures, but here is one of the Janina and Claire doing food preparation, and this is what the table looked like when it was ready.

Our guests started to arrive (including Faye returning from Simons Rock). Here's a nice shot of Mark in his pumplin tie and one of Martin and Karina helping with preparations. Our friendly hummingbirds were there and Karina got introduced to Buster and Kidogo.

Finally we were all ready to sit down at the table. But wait! There was still a hair-do that was being worked on. Here's a short video of the end of that hair braiding work. Finally we were all down at the table. Here is a brief video around the table as we started and a close up of the Boolootian boys and of Karina admiring Janina's hair which looked like this.

After the main meal we all went for a walk. Here is one of the views from the walk. There were also many chances to stop and chat, look at look at houses along the way and even some unusual ones like this log cabin over a stream. At one point we posed for a group picture (thanks for being the photographer Martin) and then strolled back home for dessert, which looked like this from above.

After dessert it was time for socializing around the fire including some piano playing, some game playing (sorry I didn't get a picture of the charades game that was a blast) and a bit more piano playing. We also had some fun with the levitron with both Belinda and Faye flying it.

The next morning we had a brief shooting adventure with some hand guns and a rifle which our girls were also able to shoot. It was time to say good-bye to the Boolootians.

We still had some time to go exploring with the Küpers. We took them up to the Marin headlands where there are nice views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Of coures I had to get in a hand stand picture and here's one with the Küper family.

We went into San Francisco where we visited the Palace of Fine Arts and of course did the traditional statue pose. We also visited Levi Plaza and the Embarcadero center with it's Hyatt Regency hotel where we played with the fountain, looked at some of the fun displays, and went up in the elevators to see views like the ice skating rink and the Ferry Building. We finally stopped on Treasure Island for a view of the San Francisco skyline as a large container ship passed by. All in all a delightful Thanksgiving holiday!
